Lessons from the SARS epidemic in 2003 have been applied to contain COVID-19.

Early on, the Government directed residential care homes to continue as normal but provided resources for preventive and hygiene practices.

A visiting doctor service to residential care homes continued to provide non-urgent medical care to residents.

These measures, together with population behavior changes, have successfully contained the spread of the COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
