[RTHK] WHO tells the world to brace for a coronavirus pandemic

The World Health Organisation has warned the international community to brace for a coronavirus pandemic. It says countries must prepare to use much more aggressive measures, such as the lock downs and mass quarantines seen in China, to fight Covid-19. The novel coronavirus now seems to be spreading epidemically in Italy and Iran, as well as South Korea.

A former top official at the WHO, Keiji Fukuda, is now a professor of public health at the University of Hong Kong. Keiji Fukuda says on RTHK, “the biggest concern is that the kind of efforts which have been made in places like China are not going to be reproducible in a lot of countries“.
